P.I.D. Update From Hot Rod Ambassador Jim Senkewitz
Just recently, the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing (near Harrisburg, PA) held its grand opening of the new 6,000 square foot addition and Hot Rod Ambassador Jim Senkewitz was there to report back all the details for talk hot rods:
Famous Sprint car driver, Lynn Paxton is the driving force behind this museum and Darwin Doll had the responsibility of creating a Drag Racing Room for the museum. The drag race room is SPECTACULAR! Much effort and hard work went into this project. Thanks to this dedicated team of race fans for creating this WORLD CLASS facility for us to enjoy. We have created a small section for the memory of our Pittsburgh International Dragway! Thanks to Bill Ritter, Tom Senkewitz, Denny Ford, Bill Truby and Jim Henderson for donations to the PID display!
Jim Henderson and I were fortunate to be there on Saturday for the festivities. Sprint car driver Dog Wolfgang was there, as well as drag racers Wally Bell, Bruce Larson, Bud Faubal, Jack Redd and many others. Mrs. Ronnie Sox was also there to unveil a memorial to her late husband. A special memorial was also done for Bill “Grumpy” Jenkins.
It was an all-around great day. Though a few sprinkles scared away many of the car cruise folks, the cars that did show were OUTSTANDING!
I sincerely implore all of youze “Car Guys” to put this museum on your list of things to do.
Jim Senkewitz
