Alex and Prisilla Open Their Hearts and Sunset Dragstrip To The Flashlight Drags
At Saturday, June 4th’s Flashlight Drags, we had a lot of fun on a dragstrip that first opened in 1959. This really is a historic track and is the birthplace of bracket racing.
It was great to see so many familiar faces and cars and just as much fun meeting new racers. All the folks that came out just to watch were so supportive. Michael Schindel, Turk Napierkowski and the whole Flashlight Drags crew say thank you.
Multiple “Big Dawg” winner Rob Freyvogel did it again when he took on Dave Norris. Special thanks to Dave Norris for his sportsmanship! Both Rob’s ’63 Pontiac and Dave’s Hemi Dart were running fast and the crowd loved them.
George Boyd from Butler, PA took home the Super Street trophy with his quick and beautiful ’70 Nova SS 396. George ran hard all day and we loved the sound of his Nova.
In the Tuner class, our good friend Jim Gephart took the handmade “Turk” trophy. Jim’s EVO really screams and he is an excellent driver as well.
The car and driver that best represented the Flashlight Drags was Bob and his ultra cool Olds Vista Cruiser. The car was fun to watch launch with all that weight transfer. It also sounded the part.
Please check out all the photos from June 4′s Flashlight Drags at Sunset Dragstrip in the Garage and be on the lookout for a bunch of videos from the event soon…

Thanks Doc, I feel better already. Be careful in the hot rod.

Hersh, Sunset opened in 1959, not 1949. If that’s what Alex told you, he’s been known to stretch the truth sometimes. That’s not meant to be a slam against the man either, we all love him.
Thanks Dan. I will make the correction. I probably heard it wrong. Knowing me that happens often. You are right too that we all love Alex! We also look forward to being at Sunset Drag Strip Saturday July 2nd with The Flashlight Drags. Click on Flashlight Drags in our sponsor section for more.
